Had a free consultation with Sam from Eben Pagan’s stable. Eben Pagan, if that is his name, is an internet marketing guru and originator of “Double Your Dating” website and program – although under a different name. He has a version for women under yet another name. Hence the suspicion that a name like Eben Pagan might be another pseudonym. Not that it matters, even if he’s lying about the millions of dollars in sales each month, he is indubitably successful because he is helpful.
The information in his videos is useful, clear, and delivering value for free … in the hopes that, not only will he have a positive impact on your life, but you will choose to cough up some money for the next level of information or support.
Hence, the free consultation.
We discussed my learning curve around blogging, setting up a website, being kicked off Adsense, and the next step. Very reasonably, Sam, suggested a survey. He wants me to ask you what you would like to see from me. Good question. What would bring you and your friends and friends of your friends to my website every day or every week?
We also discussed my idea to connect with young people and do role plays that demonstrate effective and respectful ways that they would like the adults in their lives to treat them. Sam and I were pretty stoked about it, but the first “ordinary” human to whom I described it was not impressed or interested. There’s a gem in there – I know, because when I do role plays where parents play the worst version of their child they can imagine, it’s magic. You just “know” when the solution has been reached.
What am I missing in my idea?
Finally, Sam said, as so many of us do, sometimes you just need to do “it”, even if others are not seeing the value, because it is the thing that you cannot not do. Thing is, the only things I cannot not do are eat chocolate, teach and be part of a self-managing team at an alternate school, and write. Oh, and read novels … which so far no one has offered to pay me to do. (I know, I know, there are jobs full of reading – teaching English comes to mind
– but I’m looking for something where I am paid for results, not for hours. There are only so many hours in the day.)
Things that I am compelled to do – one step down from cannot not do – include sharing what I know about working with teenagers, designing and creating pleasant & beautiful spaces, consuming sweet dairy products (think ice cream, cheesecake, cream cheese icing), learning about the brain, debating ideas, and imagining better in a whole lot of contexts. From there, the things which occasionally obsess me are roadtrips & loud music, dancing, pencil puzzles, bargain hunting, considering human nature (psychology), dog training, visual art, personal green initiatives, alternative health options and practices, and managing money.
Depending on how you look at it, it’s a large list of things I’m good at, or a small list of things in the great pool of possible things a person might do or be interested in.
So, you’ve been reading through the articles and posts. Maybe you’ve had a look at Caitlyn’s Write. From your point of view what have is my contribution to the world? And what is my money idea?

I would like to see shorter snappy posts about the brain and how the brain functions and how we “teach” our brain. I know it is tough to do but I like posts of 250-400 words. Longer is difficult to read on the computer.
O.K.
